What is the ideal home photo printer? How do you know when a printer is ideal for home photo printing? Since the photos are only for the home and not for professional or presentation use, they need not be extra high in quality or top notch in appearance. But to be able to produce good photos which can last for many years, there are still some important factors that you need to look for in a home photo printer.

A home photo printer can be a low-cost device. Home photo printers don’t need to be expensive at all. But this shouldn’t compromise the quality of the device. There are many different models of inkjet photo printers which can produce excellent photos despite their affordable prices.

A home photo printer is typically a single function inkjet printer. Because inkjet printers are the most versatile and most affordable printers in the market, they are very good for home use. These printers always need to be connected to the computer to be able to operate and they may not always be equipped with direct photo printing functions, but since they will only be used in the home, those features do not matter much.

A home photo printer must have at least 4,800 dpi resolutions. Photo inkjet printers should have resolutions of 4,800 dpi or higher to be able to produce good quality photos. This level of resolution will enable the printer to produce output that is good enough to become presentable and long-lasting. That is why most inkjet photo printers have this resolution or higher.

A home photo printer should be paired with the computer. If you are using a desktop with the printer, you should choose a printer that can fit the computer table or the desk where you have placed the computer. If your computer is a laptop, you can choose a printer that has the same handy and portable features as the laptop so you can always bring them as a pair. If you are using not only one computer in the home, you may opt for a home photo printer with wireless network connectivity.

A home photo printer has to be standard in size. There are some inkjet printers which are wide format, but these are more expensive than standard legal-size printers, so they are not preferably used for the home.

A home photo printer exhibits the style and personality of the users. Most consumers who will use something for their homes buy it according to their taste. The aesthetics of the printer says a lot about the preferences of the owner. The consumer has the freedom to decide whether to buy a black or a silver printer, or a rectangular one instead of a cubical one.

Choosing the ideal home photo printer will not be easy especially with the many choices available in the market today. But if you take these factors to heart and use them in your search for the home photo printer that you will buy, you’ll discover that you couldn’t have made a better decision.
